Promotions are an important milestone in the life of a firefighter. Although no legal requirement for the use of a Bible exists, it remains tradition to use one in the promotional process for many departments.
This past week, during a ceremony in Atlantic City for new Battalion Chief and Captain promotions, things went sideways when it was discovered that a hard cover Bible was not to be found. Undeterred, an officer’s iPad became an instant force multiplier, and a Bible app was downloaded (or already installed). Within moments, hands were placed on the glass of the iPad, and the swearing in was executed and completed.
All in all, an excellent example of tradition and technology coming together.
I wonder if they also have FireJournal in that iPad?
